My journey with S&J Construction began in December 2008, under quite unusual circumstances. During a tumultuous period when hazardous storms struck the KZN coast, I, a qualified nurse and carer, found myself assisting the team. With phones ringing incessantly and clients urgently seeking shelter for their damaged roofs, it felt like pandemonium. I had the urge to run, but instead, Nurse Mary (that's me) stepped up and offered assistance in the office.

Little did I know, this act of helping would mark a turning point in my career. S&J Construction recognized my dedication and soon offered me a permanent position. It was at that moment I bid farewell to my nursing career, embracing the opportunity to challenge myself and build a new path for the future.

At S&J, I started with the basics, learning to answer phone calls and communicate with clients. Back then, I didn't even know how to turn on a computer! Over the years, I've undergone a transformative journey of growth and learning. With unwavering support from my colleagues and management, I've worked my way up from those initial stages, evolving into a managerial role and even becoming a BEE partner.
